Antoni Norbet Patek de Prawdzik was born on 12 June 1812 in Piaski, Poland. He was a soldier during the insurrection but due to the failure, he emigrated to Germany and then to Switzerland in Geneva. On 1 May 1839, Antoni Norbert and François Csapek joined forces to create "Patek, Czapek &Cie".

In 1845, Patek decided to leave the company to continue his activity alone. This became "Patek & Cie". He then joined forces with Adrien Philippe, and in 1851 the company took the name "Patek Philippe & Cie". The brand name was already known throughout Europe and America.
